Leader in Adult Care apprentices lead the care service and manage teams of carers to look after adults with care needs.

What is the EPA for Leader in Adult Care Level 5

There are two assessment methods for Leader in Adult Care Level 5 EPA:

  1. Observation of Leadership
  2. Professional Discussion

Advance EPA helps providers prepare their apprentices for the Leader in Adult Care EPA. We’ll give examples of the type of activity that would be suitable for the Observation of Leadership. This assessment method lasts 90 minutes, including a 60 minute observation, followed by 30 minutes of questions between apprentice and assessor.

The Professional Discussion takes place online, by video call. This EPA component is a discussion between the apprentice and the same assessor who observed their leadership activity. The assessor will lead the discussion, guiding the apprentice to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and behaviours shown in the assessment plan. The professional discussion will last 90 minutes.
